American Samoa, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga will all enter a preliminary qualifying round (to be held in the Cook Islands, between 8th and 12th of September, 2007).
The winner of this will then join Fiji, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, and Vanuatu for home and away matches.
The winner of the Oceania leg of World Cup Qualifying will also be crowned OFC Nations Cup winner, and attend the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa, before entering a home and away play-off for a place in the 2010 World Cup Finals.
The move should be good for the fans in the islands, giving them more of a chance to see their team play.
