World Cup Schedule:
Munich hosts four 1st round games, a second round match and the second semi-final in the Allianz Arena - the home of Bayern Munich and TSV 1860.
Allianz Arena, Munich
The 66,000 capacity Allianz Arena, at Fröttmaning, will host the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 World Cup Finals. Unlike the Olympic stadium, there is no running track and no curve at the ends of the ground so fans are actually closer to the field of play.

Getting to the Stadium:
The Allianz Arena is located in Fröttmaning, about five miles north of Munich city centre, at the junction of the A9 and A99 motorways.
Public Transportation in Munich: (Network Map)
The U6 (direction Garching-Hochbrück) stops at Fröttmaning.
If you need to travel on the S-bahn, take any S1-S8 train to Marienplatz (between Hauptbahnhof and Ostbahnhof) and change for the U6.
Trams 16, 17, 18 or 27 go to Sendlinger Tor, where once again you can change onto the U6 towards Garching-Hochbrück.
Alternatively, bus 293 goes to Studentenstadt where you can change for the U6, or take the 693 to Kieferngarten and pick up the U6 there.

Flying Between Matches:
Germanwings fly from Munich to Berlin, to Cologne, and Hamburg. Cheaper flights if you book early.
Munich Airport:
The S1 and S8 both travel between the airport and Munich Hautbahnhof.
If you need to go straight to the stadium from the airport (heaven forbid) then take the Airport Express S8 to Marienplatz and change onto the U6 (direction Garching-Hochbrück) to Fröttmaning.

Named after the column of the Virgin Mary at its centre, the square is famous for its Neo-Gothic Town Hall (Altes Rathaus). Easily reached on foot from the station, this is where the U6 leaves for the stadium.
